These Terms of Use govern your use of the MateWake iPhone app and this website. By using MateWake, you agree to them.

Your licence to use MateWake

MateWake grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes, in line with Apple’s standard App Store terms.

The app is free

MateWake is free to download and use. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or ads. If that ever changes, it will be made clear before you’re asked for anything.

Alarms are an aid, not a guarantee

MateWake helps you wake up, but it is not a certified or fail-safe alarm system. Whether an alarm actually sounds depends on factors outside our control — your device’s volume, Focus and Do Not Disturb settings, battery, iOS behaviour, and whether the app remains installed and permitted to schedule alarms. Do not rely on MateWake alone when the consequences of oversleeping are serious (for example, catching a flight, taking medication, or getting to work). Always keep a backup alarm for anything important. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for missed alarms or oversleeping.

Puzzle content

MateWake’s puzzles are derived from the Lichess Puzzle Database, released under CC0. Chess itself, of course, belongs to everyone.

Acceptable use

Please don’t attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or misuse the app, or use it in any unlawful way.

No warranty

MateWake is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don’t promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MateWake and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including, without limitation, missed alarms or oversleeping.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with the date above.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
