Privacy Policy

This policy explains how MateWake (“the app”, “we”) handles information. It applies to the MateWake iPhone app and this website.

What stays on your device

Everything. The alarms you set, your difficulty preference, your streaks and solve times, and which in-app messages you’ve seen are stored locally on your iPhone using standard iOS storage. This information never leaves your device through MateWake, and we never receive or see it. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, that backup is controlled by you and Apple — not by us.

Alarms and notifications

MateWake schedules the alarms you create using Apple’s AlarmKit framework. Scheduling happens entirely on your device. We have no access to your alarms, and no alarm information is transmitted anywhere.

Chess puzzles

MateWake’s puzzles are bundled inside the app, derived from the Lichess Puzzle Database, released under CC0 (public domain). Because the puzzles are stored on your device, the app needs no network connection to work.

What we don’t do

• No accounts, sign-ups, or logins.
• No analytics or usage-tracking SDKs inside the app.
• No advertising and no ad networks.
• No third-party trackers, and no selling or sharing of data — because none is collected.
• No App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we don’t track you.

Aggregate App Store statistics

If you have chosen to share usage and analytics with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregate figures — such as total downloads, sessions, and deletions — through App Store Connect. This data comes from Apple, is never tied to your identity, and is not collected by the app itself.

Links to other apps

MateWake may occasionally point you to another app on the App Store (for example, a chess app by the same developer). Tapping such a link opens Apple’s App Store, which has its own privacy practices.

Children

MateWake is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Meaningful changes will also be reflected in a future app update.
